We were two days into 2025, and Kusal Perera became the first T20I centurion this year. He scored 101 off 46 deliveries against New Zealand in Nelson. In the process, Perera brought up the fastest hundred for Sri Lanka, off 44 balls, in the shortest format.
A month later, Abhishek Sharma hammered the second quickest ton for India in T20Is. He raised his hundred off 37 before getting out on 135 against England in Mumbai. Abhishek also became the sixth Indian batter to score two centuries in T20Is.
Abhishek’s 135 is also the highest individual score by an Indian batter in the shortest format.
Hungary’s Sheikh Rasik and Malta’s Priyan Pushparajan also took 37 balls to reach their respective hundreds against Malta and Estonia. Both are now the fastest T20I centurions for their respective teams.
In April, Monank Patel brought up the highest individual score for the USA. He smashed 104 off 49 against the Bahamas in the North America T20 Cup.
Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Haris became the fourth and fifth T20I centurions for Pakistan. Interestingly, Nawaz smashed the fastest (44 balls vs New Zealand), while Haris scored the second-fastest (45 balls vs Bangladesh) hundreds for Pakistan.
Can you guess which batter holds the record for the fastest ever T20I century?
Karanbir Singh’s 115 against Switzerland is now the highest T20I score for Austria, surpassing Bilal Zalmai’s unbeaten 111 from 2019.
In early June, Izaz Ali became the first Slovenian batter to score a T20I century. He smashed 118 runs off 45 balls against Serbia in Belgrade.
In the same match, Braithyn Pecic became the second T20I centurion for Serbia after Leslie Dunbar. He brought up a match-winning 102 off 42 balls to chase down 199 against Slovenia.
In mid-June, Norway saw its maiden T20I centurion in Walid Ghauri. He smashed an unbeaten 100 against Denmark.
