The former Indian captain also tops the list of most double centuries by Indian players in the longest format followed by Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag who have 6 to their names.
He is also the holder of the record of most double centuries by captains in Tests, beating Brian Lara who had five.
Also, he is now the sixth batsman to score three consecutive double hundreds in Tests.
