Rohit Sharma – Test Runs – Year by Year

Since making his ODI debut in 2007, Rohit Sharma had to wait six years to make his longer-format debut. And when he was finally given the Test cap in November 2013 against West Indies, he made big use of the opportunity as he scored a massive 177. It was a dream start for the Mumbai-based batsman.

However, things didn’t stay sweet for Rohit as he failed to replicate his success from his wealthy limited-overs stocks to his Test numbers. The Indian management was on two minds to give Rohit the opening position in the Tests, the slot he owned like a master in the ODIs and T20Is. But when he was made to open the bat in the whites, his numbers started hiking again, and he was made the regular opener. And now, Rohit leads the Indian side in two bigger formats.

This article will figure out how Rohit Sharma’s Test numbers have been projected year by year. (You can also find the same charts for his ODI and T20I career here.)

Key Stats

More than half of Rohit’s Test centuries, including his highest Test score of 212 against South Africa in Ranchi, came while playing as an opener on or after 2019.

Rohit is also the first opener ever to score at least one century in Test, ODI, & T20Is. Find out where Rohit stands in the list of batters with the most hundreds while playing as an opener in all three formats.

However, he is yet to have 1000+ Test runs calendar year in his career while coming so close in 2021. Find: the list of batters who have achieved the milestone of 1000+ Test runs in a calendar year, most times in their career.

Since his four ducks in the first 3 years of his career, he was not dismissed for ‘naught’ in Tests in his next 6 years, before he was out for duck once in both 2023 and 2024.
