However, both players will continue to participate as long as they feel fit, and with the IPL, they will remain in the game for a while longer.

Personally, Virat needs to find a way to return to his record-breaking form, while Rohit’s attacking starts, combined with his leadership, will always be valuable in both longer formats of the game.

The long-term goal is the next ODI World Cup in 2027 in South Africa, along with the upcoming World Test Championship cycle, should they choose to continue playing in the longest format.
